Yes, 3.5 years of waiting in exchange for 1.5 carats of super-concentrated carbon. Ask her if it was worth the wait, and she'll tell you of course it was; Although she would have been happy with something less flashy, we all know the truth...women love things that sparkle. I figured, what the heck, it's the least I can offer for the most patient person I know of. What made me do it now? I'm not sure exactly, but it just felt, to use the trite expression "right". I have to say that after the fact, it was the right time. Sure, the whole Valentine's Day Proposal cliche' may apply, but in my defense, it actually happened the day after. I have to be the happiest person in the world right now, despite the fact that I just owned a diamond ring for a week, then gave it away. (originally posted Feb.16 2006)
